Dr O’Connor is a consultant in Cardiology, with special interests in: Coronary artery disease and PCI or Coronary Angioplasty with stenting; Transcatheter Valvular Interventions including TAVI; CT Coronary Angiography; Cardiac CT; General Cardiology including rhythm disturbances.

Dr O’Connor graduated from Royal College of Surgeons Medical School (RCSI) in 2002. He completed higher specialist training in Ireland. He performed four years of clinical and research fellowship training in interventional cardiology in Paris, France, in two of the largest centres for Cardiovascular care in Europe: Pitié Salpêtière University Hospital and Institut Cardiovasculaire Paris Sud (ICPS), Massy, Paris. He was conferred MD by thesis by the National University of Ireland (NUI) in 2013 for clinical research undertaken with the ACTION study group at Institut de Cardiologie, Pitié Salpêtière University Hospital (Paris 6 – Sorbonne). At both centres, he performed a high volume of procedures in percutaneous coronary intervention and stenting, peripheral and transcatheter valvular interventions.He currently works in St. James’s Hospital and is a lecturer for Trinity College School of Medicine.

Antiplatelet and anticoagulant therapies used in cardiovascular disease especially in the setting of Acute Coronary Syndromes. Cardiovascular device development from new stent and transcatheter valve technologies to wearable medical devices.

Dr O’Connor performed four years of clinical and research fellowship training in interventional cardiology in Paris, France, in two of the largest centres for Cardiovascular care in Europe: Pitié Salpêtière University Hospital and Institut Cardiovasculaire Paris Sud (ICPS), Massy, Paris.
