Practiced medicine in the UK since 2007, following MRCP in 2009 Dr Shalaby Boutrus has been a specialist in Internal Medicine in London and south of England where he worked in several university hospitals like Southampton, Guy’s and St Thomas, and Brighton.
Dr Shalaby Boutrus has been a consultant Internal and Acute Medicine in greater Manchester area including Salford university hospital since 2017, his main specialism is care of the acutely unwell medical patients and provide care to patients in acute medical units, enhanced care as well as in the emergency department and ambulatory care clinics (urgent care) providing diagnosis and management for most common presentations in internal medicine.
The scope of his experience includes providing senior input to acutely ill patients from diagnosis to management including advanced life support, point of care ultrasound and performing necessary urgent medical intervention from point of admission to discharge in the Acute medicine Unit. As an experienced Internal medicine physician, Dr Shalaby Boutrus provides senior input to patients with complex medical need.
Dr Shalaby Boutrus has special interest in diagnosing and managing diabetes and endocrinology in adults and cardiovascular protection including obesity, dyslipidaemia, and hypertension.
Having a proven history in teaching, he is an honorary fellowship in the European federation of internal medicine and honorary senior lecturer for the royal college of surgeons in Ireland.
He is a qualified advanced life support instructor, General Medical Council Associate and clinical and Educational Supervisor for junior doctors.
In his current role at Galway clinic hospital, Dr Shalaby Boutrus manages acute and chronic complications of diabetes and endocrinology, usual ward commitments for acutely unwell patients with complex medical problems, and participates in meetings to accomplish several policies, local hospital, and departmental guidelines.
