Mr Gulam Zilani is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at Beaumont Hospital and Hermitage Clinic, where he provides care for patients with a wide range of neurosurgical conditions. His particular expertise includes the treatment of brain aneurysms, vascular malformations, brain and pituitary tumours, trigeminal neuralgia and radiosurgery.

Mr Zilani studied both Mathematics and Medicine at the University of Cambridge, graduating with multiple prizes and scholarships. He completed specialist neurosurgical training in Oxford, London, and Cardiff before achieving his FRCS (Neurosurgery) and Certificate of Completion of Training. He then undertook three years of additional advanced fellowship training in Oxford and Dublin, focusing on complex cranial, skull base and neurovascular surgery.

Alongside his clinical practice, Mr Zilani is committed to education and currently serves as the National Training Programme Director for Neurosurgery at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He also teaches on national and international courses, helping to train the next generation of neurosurgeons.

  • Trigeminal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm (including microvascular decompression)
  • Brain and skull base tumours (e.g. meningiomas, acoustic neuromas, chordomas, craniopharyngiomas, glioblastomas, brain metastases)
  • Pituitary surgery and endoscopic procedures
  • Hydrocephalus, Chiari malformation, degenerative spine conditions, trauma and other general neurosurgical conditions
  • Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) for brain tumours, trigeminal neuralgia and vascular malformations

Mr Zilani completed an additional 3 years post-CCT advanced fellowship training in:
