Dr. Miriam Delaney is a Specialist in Osteoporosis and Metabolic Bone Disease and runs the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Clinic at the Galway Clinic. After studying medicine at UCD, she did her early post-graduate training in Ireland and attained her MRCPI. She then moved to Boston, Massachusetts, USA where she completed medical residency at Boston Medical Centre. After a fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at Joslin Diabetes Centre and Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Dr. Delaney spent one year in a Bone Fellowship studying Osteoporosis and Metabolic Bone Diseases at Brigham and Women's Hospital.

In 2000, she was appointed as a consultant and as Associate Director of the Skeletal Health and Osteoporosis Program. In 2004 she moved to the Cleveland Clinic as Associate Director of the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Program. She worked closely with the Transplant Center and Women's Health Division. Her research involved DXA, Transplant related bone disease, Post-menopausal and Male Osteoporosis. Also, calcium and parathyroid related disorders and vitamin D therapy using UV light exposure. She has been chair-person of the ISCD Membership Committee. She has published on Osteoporosis, DXA, Parathyroid Disease, and Vitamin D and published several chapters on Osteoporosis, and Bone Health.

Dr. Delaney attended University College Dublin where she studied Medicine. After graduation, she worked at St Vincents Hospital, Dublin, Wexford General Hospital and St Michael's Hospital, Dun Laoghaire. She then travelled to the USA, where she completed residency at Boston City Hospital and then 3 three year fellowship in Endocrine, Diabetes and Metabolism at Brigham and Women's Hospital, followed by a one year fellowship in Osteoporosis and Bone Metabolism.

Prior research areas include Postmenopausal Osteoporosis, Male Osteoporosis, Transplant related Osteoporosis, Vitamin D, Bisphosphonate therapy, Genetics of Osteoporosis, and Bone Density.

Dr Delaney completed fellowship training in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Joslin Diabetes Center, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Boston Children's Hospital, at Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Following this, she completed a Fellowship in Osteoporosis and Metabolic Bone Diseases at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Skeletal Health Unit, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Hypertension.
