Mr Andrew Hannah is a highly qualified, Fellowship trained Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in all aspects of lower limb surgery; including hip and knee replacements and knee related sports injuries. Originally from Yorkshire in the UK, Mr Hannah is a graduate of Brighton and Sussex Medical School, has a Distinction from the University of Salford for his postgraduate Masters (MSc) in Trauma and Orthopaedics and is a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). Following successful completion of his extensive Orthopaedic Higher Surgical Training (HST) in South Yorkshire, Mr Hannah further honed his skills in lower limb and arthroplasty surgery on an international Fellowship in Christchurch, New Zealand. Mr Hannah is particularly interested in knee preservation and partial knee replacement surgery. His goal is to maintain a high level of function while delaying or even preventing the need for a full knee replacement.
I am a graduate of Brighton and Sussex Medical School where I gained my Bachelors of Medicine, Bachelors of Surgery (BM,BS). I achieved a Distinction from the University of Salford for my postgraduate Masters (MSc) in Trauma and Orthopaedics. I undertook my Orthopaedic Higher Surgical Training (HST) in South Yorkshire and became a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) in 2019 - FRCS Trauma and Orthopaedics. Following completion of my Orthopaedic Higher Surgical Training I undertook an international Fellowship in Christchurch, New Zealand in lower limb and arthroplasty surgery.
My fellowship training was undertaken in Christchurch, New Zealand specialising in lower limb and arthroplasty surgery. It gave me fantastic exposure to a widespread variety of surgical practices and operative techniques less frequently practiced in the UK and Ireland. I was fortunate to receive a great deal of hands-on experience which enabled me to hone my surgical skills and interests in knee preservation surgery and partial knee replacement. Experience that I feel my patients are now benefiting from here in the Galway Clinic.
